To better understand this partnership, we have to look to personal GIGN and their different functions within the elite unit. All members of this special unit hold a patent paratrooper, and 26 have more patent “operational fallers”.
These operational fallers, which account for extreme operations, require hardware allowing them inter alia to assess the distance to the ground. Equipment that must be reliable under all circumstances. This is what led the fallers test shows the “Oris Big Crown PROPILOT Altimeter”, used as “plan B” in the case of failure of their basic equipment. Oris watch has a mechanical barometric altimeter which displays the air pressure and altitude. What explains this unprecedented collaboration.
Oris GIGN Operational fallers have the same technical specifications as the watch “Oris Big Crown PROPILOT Altimeter”, including an automatic mechanical movement with a date window at 3 o’clock, the famous altimeter, and the stainless steel housing resistant to 100 meters.
The differences with the normal model mainly from the watch design. On this new limited edition, the dial and the case back to parent the badge of the GIGN, while the tip of the second hand comes in blue, white and red. The textile strap adopts the olive color and is decorated with a folding clasp in stainless steel.
